Fuel Spend Reduction Program

Fuel Spend Reduction Program

HTC Energy specializes in Fleet management – we make it our business to help clients optimize the fuel efficiency of their fleet with a view to reducing fuel spend and raising profit margins.

A 5% reduction in fuel spend can represent a significant reduction in total operating costs far greater than what pump price savings normally offer. HTC Energy adopts a consultative approach to fleet management, providing the required guidance and support to help you develop a program for reducing fuel spend across your entire fleet.

So how exactly does HTC Energy help customers reduce total fuel spend:

Fleet Management Efficiency Check List

HTC Energy applies a self-audit checklist to assess the status of fuel management in your organization and to accordingly identify areas requiring action. Our fuel spend reduction program assesses various critical success factors and develops action points for each of these areas:

Role of Management

Introducing a fleet management program must be a permanent commitment towards a new company culture. It requires plenty of management support and encouragement, making it clear that the organization supports safe and fuel-efficient driving.

Financial Aspects of Fuel Management

We show you how to put the actual costs of each vehicle into perspective so that the organization has an accurate idea of the cost of each vehicle and the impact of every 1% of fuel savings on the total profit margin.

The Fuel Champion

The fuel champion is the person appointed by the organization to promote the program. We provide the necessary guidance to determine the role and responsibilities of the fuel champion, and to develop an action plan for the fuel spend reduction program.

Monitoring and Targeting

Accurate and regular monitoring is critical to the success of any fuel management program. HTC Energy provides you with the required reporting, not just on the actual fuel spend per vehicle, but also on the fuel efficiency in relation to the distance covered. In fact we go a step further in providing you with the ability to set targets and compare the fuel efficiency performance in L/100 km for each vehicle. Our systems additionally provide the flexibility of capturing data by vehicle ID or Driver ID; whichever is more appropriate. So when drivers are often compelled due to a breakdown or service repair to take another vehicle, they can record the different vehicle ID against their fleet card so that the vehicle statistics will always remain 100% accurate.

Furthermore, the Esso fleetcard allows you to monitor and control fuel expenditure for each individual vehicle by applying individual transaction, daily allowance, and monthly allowance limits.

Factors Affecting Fuel Consumption

Developing an effective action plan requires an in-depth assessment of the factors affecting fuel consumption. Beyond just the vehicle itself, its age and condition, other important factors include the driving behavior, the load, the weather, the route and traffic conditions, as well as the type of fuel and motor oils applied to the vehicle. The quality of fuels and motor oils both have a major influence on fuel consumption and can make a substantial difference on total fuel spend.
